A prayer for 215 children

Our Creator God, who breathed life into our world, and gave dignity to every human being, we come to you today in deep sorrow and lament, we remember 215 children in Kamloops whose lives were cut short. [Pause]

Instead of preserving the family, the children were taken away from parents. The culture and language were stripped away. Being neglected they became vulnerable, abused and left in unmarked graves.

Lord, have mercy upon us. Help us find the pathway to reconciliation. Help us boldly to choose justice for those who have suffered.

Today we remember a promise you made to King Solomon:

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Our Father…
Hail Mary…
Glory Be…
