Sunday School registration now open

St. Stephen’s Church intends to begin Sunday School after Thanksgiving for youth from ages 5 to 15 (and older for the Confirmation class). Student and teacher recruitment is in progress by word of mouth and church bulletin announcements. The priorities are First Communion (grade 2) and Confirmation (grade 9 and up). We can use many adults to help in various tasks (teachers, assistants, gofers, etc.).

We especially need to get student information ASAP: names, ages, phone numbers so we can plan classes and provide preparatory adult instructions. Student recruitment is top priority. If you can help in any way, please contact Heather Daigle at the parish office 466-6043 ([email protected]). Student registration forms are available please fill them out and email or drop off to the office at 5 Rose Street.

Spaghetti fundraiser for new soup kitchen

The community is warmly invited to join us on September 18th, St. Patrick’s Hall at 6 pm for a delicious meal of spaghetti to help raise funds for Jim’s Helping Hands Soup Kitchen! The cost of the meal will be $15 for adults and $8 for children under 12. All proceeds will go towards resourcing the efforts of the church in operating the Soup Kitchen for the coming season. Tickets available at the door.

New Sunday school coming soon

Thanks to the success of this summer’s Bible School program, kids in Milltown have the opportunity to take part in a new Sunday School beginning this fall at St Stephen’s Church. We are looking for volunteers to sign up as teachers or assistants, and we need to recruit students too. Sunday School will begin after Thanksgiving for youth ages 5 to 15. Contact Heather in our parish office for more information.

Soup kitchen launching in Milltown this fall

Thanks to the leadership of Yolande Stewart and inspired by the vision of Jim McShane, Jim’s Helping Hands Soup Kitchen will be launching this fall. We will open every 2nd and 4th Wednesday evenings beginning October 9 until April 29 in St Patrick’s Hall, and a team of three sets of volunteers is ready to serve. Hot, nutritious meals will be made available to local residents at St Patrick’s Hall.
